CNC Machinist/Programmer


Responsibilities: Operate conventional and CNC machines. Complete inspections and dimensional reports. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment. Supervising and directing apprentices. Set up and use hand and power tools, bench grinders and cutting equipment. Use basic math skills to calculate machine settings. Assist the supervisor during the shift in programming and operating the machine. Ensure that the workplace is safe for working for yourself, peers and the environment. Knowledge of following preventative maintenance procedures such as cleaning and lubricating equipment, replacing parts and tooling as necessary. Minimum 3 years’ experience working in structural fabrication shop shall be preferred. The candidate is willing to lift material that is at least 50 lbs in weight. Experience using overhead cranes or similar type of heavy equipment would be beneficial as well. Material handling required where the individual would be required to manually flip or turn long pieces of steel material that is sitting on the conveyor. Knowledge of blueprint reading and using ‘CNC’ computers within a fabrication shop environment would be highly beneficial. Knowledge of ‘Fanuc’ and ‘Heidenhain controls’ is a must. Post Secondary Training and ‘COQ 429A’ is preferred. Ability to work with large pieces. Valid Driver’s License is preferred. Overtime may be required. Shift schedule available Days and Afternoons.
